The weather situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir has raised concerns over a potential flash flood risk, as authorities issue multiple alerts in view of expected rainfall and snowfall.

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, a powerful western weather system may affect the upper regions of the country from today until January 24. As a result, rain and snowfall are expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir during this period.

The Meteorological Department stated that the influence of this strong western system could lead to continuous or intermittent rain and snowfall in several areas. Due to the anticipated increase in water levels in the Kabul River and its tributaries, the Federal Flood Commission has issued alerts for multiple districts. These include Swat, Chitral, Dir, Malakand, and Mansehra, where the risk of rising water levels may pose challenges for local administration and residents.
