Beijing, China – Dr. Faiz Ahmed Khan, a PhD scholar from the remote village of Chamogarh in Gilgit, Pakistan, has earned his place on one of the most prestigious international platforms for cultural dialogue.Dr. Faiz, a scholar at Zhengzhou University, has qualified for the Grand Showcase of the 6th “Stories of China Retold in English” Challenge, set to take place in Beijing on July 27-28, 2026. This achievement places him among elite participants selected from over 5,000 candidates across 257 universities worldwide.
A Tribute to KKH’s Heroes

Dr. Faiz’s story honors the 88 engineers and builders of the Karakoram Highway (KKH) who sacrificed their lives during its construction. Their tomb in Danyore, Gilgit, stands as a silent but powerful symbol of Pakistan-China friendship—a reminder that great connections are built on sacrifice.”The Karakoram Highway is not just a road—it is a lifeline, a testament to what nations can achieve when they stand together,” says Dr. Faiz. “I want to carry this legacy forward and be a bridge between Pakistan and China, just as those 88 heroes built a road that connected our nations forever.”
A Promise to His Village

Dr. Faiz carries the dreams of Chamogarh, a village where access to basic education and healthcare remains a distant hope for many. Every step of his journey has been fueled by the faces of children who dream of a brighter future.”I want to work for the better life of my villagers,” he shares with quiet determination. “They deserve education, health, and dignity. My success is not mine alone—it belongs to every child in Chamogarh who dares to dream beyond the mountains.”
A Son’s Tribute to His Father

But beneath this remarkable achievement lies a deeply personal story of loss and love. Dr. Faiz dedicates this success to his late father—the man who gave him wings but is not here today to see him soar.”This success is dedicated to my late father, who is not here today to see me,” Dr. Faiz says, his voice filled with emotion. “But his voice, his struggles, and his unwavering belief in me are echoing in my heart today. He walked the hardest paths so I could walk the easiest. He sacrificed his dreams so I could chase mine. Every step I take on this global stage is a step he dreamed of for me. I carry him with me—in every word I speak, in every story I tell. This moment is as much his as it is mine.”
Building Bridges, Honoring Legacies
For Dr. Faiz, this global platform is not about competition—it is an opportunity to amplify the voices of his people, to honor the sacrifices of the past, and to inspire a generation that will come after him.”I see myself as a bridge between Pakistan and China,” he says. “Just as the Karakoram Highway connects our lands, I want to connect our hearts—through stories, through understanding, and through shared dreams.”
Zhengzhou University, the people of Chamogarh, and the Pakistani community extend their heartfelt support to Dr. Faiz—as a storyteller, a bridge-builder, a devoted son, and a beacon of hope for generations to come.
