The Anti-Cybercrime Court of Islamabad has sentenced Rasool Qaiser Sajjad to death after he was found guilty of publishing blasphemous content on social media.

In a landmark ruling, Judge Muhammad Afzal Majuka declared Sajjad guilty of promoting content that insulted revered figures, particularly the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), under Section 295C of the Pakistan Penal Code. This verdict marks the 18th death sentence issued to individuals for promoting blasphemous material on social media.

During the proceedings, the court found that the prosecution successfully established that Sajjad had disseminated blasphemous content, which constituted an affront to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) and the Holy Quran. Consequently, the court deemed the death penalty an appropriate sentence for this crime, while noting that life imprisonment is applicable under Section 295B for offences related to blasphemy.

Additionally, the court imposed various penalties on Sajjad under other provisions of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA). The case was registered following a complaint lodged by  Muhammad Saeed.
