WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump has confirmed that he called Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu “crazy” during a tense phone call. Trump expressed strong frustration over Israel’s ongoing military actions in Lebanon, which are disrupting American efforts to finalize a peace agreement with Iran.
During an appearance on the “Pod Force One” podcast, Trump was questioned about a recent media leak claiming he used harsh profanity against Netanyahu. Trump openly admitted to the comments, stating he was deeply troubled by the continuous fighting. According to insiders, Trump told Netanyahu that global public opinion was turning against him and Israel due to the ongoing conflict, even reminding the Israeli leader of past US political support that kept him in power.

The diplomatic friction comes at a critical time. The United States has been trying to broker an end to the broader regional conflict, but Iran has refused to sign any peace agreement unless Israel halts its military operations in Lebanon. Although a fragile, US-backed truce was briefly discussed to reduce airstrikes around Beirut, cross-border violence between Israeli forces and Hezbollah has persisted, making a permanent ceasefire highly difficult to achieve.
