In a devastating incident, two members of the Ahmadiyya community, Ghulam Sarwar and Rahat Ahmad Bajwa, were brutally murdered in Saadullahpur, Mandi Bahauddin, on June 8, 2024. The killings occurred in broad daylight, with the victims shot dead in separate incidents.
According to Amir Mahmood, spokesman for Ahmadiyya Pakistan, the victims were targeted due to their religious beliefs. A 16-17-year-old madrassa student, Syed Ali Riza, has been arrested and confessed to the crimes, citing religious motives.
The killings are part of a larger hate campaign against Ahmadis in Pakistan, fueled by extremist rhetoric and incitement. The government’s inaction has emboldened perpetrators, and the community demands justice and protection.
The victims leave behind families, including wives and children. The Ahmadiyya community condemns these heinous crimes and urges the government to take immediate action against those spreading hate and violence.
