Pakistan’s Passport Makes Significant Global Leap in 2026

slamabad: According to the Henley Passport Index 2026, Pakistan’s passport has climbed to the 98th position globally, reflecting the country’s strengthening diplomacy and signing of international agreements. This development is gradually providing Pakistani travelers with easier access to countries worldwide.

The ranking, shared with Yemen, indicates gradual improvement in global mobility and international travel access. Holders of Pakistani passports can now visit 31 countries across Asia, Africa, the Caribbean, and Oceania simply by presenting their passport.

Visa-free destinations include Barbados, Dominica, Haiti, Micronesia, Montserrat, Rwanda, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, and Vanuatu. Additionally, visas on arrival are available in eleven countries: Burundi, Cambodia, Cape Verde, Comoros Islands, Cook Islands, Djibouti, Guinea-Bissau, Madagascar, Maldives, Mozambique, and Nepal. The processing time for these visas is usually less than one hour.

Travelers can also access Kenya, Seychelles, and Sri Lanka via electronic travel authorization. These destinations offer a wide range of experiences, from tropical islands and African safaris to South Asian cultural hubs and Pacific escapes, providing convenience and choice for Pakistani travelers.

To enhance service quality, Pakistan recently launched a Digital Integrated Dashboard for real-time monitoring of passport applications, printing, and delivery.

The new passport design highlights Pakistan’s cultural and historical heritage, showcasing landmarks from all four provinces. This not only attracts the public but also combines modern security with international standards.

According to the Henley Index, Singapore remains at the top, offering visa-free access to 192 destinations, followed by Japan and South Korea with access to 188 countries. The UAE has also entered the top-five list, while countries like New Zealand, Australia, the UK, and Canada have slipped to 10th, offering access to 179 destinations.
