Interpersonal relationship means ‘your behavior towards different people in different situation’, it also refers to psychological and motivational approach of someone toward other individuals. It includes communication, feelings, exchange of thoughts and mutual respect among people.

Islam emphasizes interpersonal relationships and revolves around it. Your behavior with different people will promote a society whether it is bad or good. Now it’s upon you that what type of you want to promote.

The Holy Qur’an provides valuable guidance on promoting and enhancing healthy interpersonal relationship and suggests some rules that foster mutual respect, harmony, empathy and kindness among people.

Some of those rules are; اوفوا بالعقود, فتبينوا, فاڪتبوا ہ, ولايغتب , ولا تنابزوا بالالقاب , ولاتجسسوا

I think in today’s world if we practice these 5 rules/commands of Qur’an we can achieve our desired destiny easily. These five commands can further be explained as;
ولاتجسسوا (الحجرات١٢): Do not gather secretly information about others.

In present era, this is the main act which damages trust and relationship among lots of people. The Holy Qur’an strictly discourages this practice and considers it detrimental for society.

ولايغتب (الحجرات١٢): Avoid backbiting

Another evil which deteriorates harmony, affection and mutual respect among individuals. It is listed in those sins which are the most repugnant to Allah. Qur’an compares this action to eating the flesh of one’s brother. If we dislike eating flesh of dead brother then you must hate backbiting because both are same. Backbiting and tale bearing can lead to misunderstanding and intensify conflicts.

ولا تنابزوا بالالقاب (الحجرات١١): Don’t call each other with bad names.

In today’s society most people face this problem at their workplace, school and college. This habit affects individual very badly and causes emotional distress and damaged trust. Such people think themselves low-worth who can’t contribute to anything.

فاڪتبوا ہ (البقرۃ٢٨٢): To write down each and everything when you are making a deal with anyone whether he is your brother, son, family member or a friend. This will save you from various problems like misunderstanding, lack of trust etc.

فتبينوا (الحجرات٦): Seek for credible people and channel, to avoid fiction and get true news.

According to Qur’an if someone informs you of something, don’t trust his news blindly, instead, be patient and verify information. This will lead you to save your relationship from fake people. If you adopt this method then no one will dare to share false news with you about someone.

اوفوا بالعقود (المائدۃ١): Fulfill your promises.

For Muslims Qur’an specially emphasize on fulfilling promises. If you can’t do then don’t make an agreement, otherwise you will be unreliable and a liar for friends and family.

Remember our words have the power to heal or harm someone’s emotions, feelings and thoughts. If we are sincere to foster a healthy, empathetic and trustful society, we must avoid the first three practices and adopt the last three. These habits will make us clear and kind to others.

In today’s materialistic world, everyone want to build trust, enhance mutual respect and create peaceful environment
