As geopolitical tensions rise in various parts of the world, civilians must be informed and prepared—not panic-driven. In case of war, military escalation, or armed conflict, preparedness can make a vital difference. Below are twelve essential, faith-guided and practical recommendations for communities and individuals to stay safe and resilient.
1. Turn to Allah (SWT)
In uncertain times, our ultimate reliance is on Allah. Continuously make heartfelt duaa for Aafiyah—well-being, safety, and protection—for yourself, your family, and the broader Ummah.
2. Recite Ayat-e-Karimah
Make frequent recitation of the powerful verse: ”La ilaha illa anta subhanaka inni kuntu minaz-zalimeen” This verse from Surah Al-Anbiya (21:87) is a source of mercy and deliverance in distress.
3. Follow Official News Sources
To avoid panic and misinformation, trust only your country’s official and verified national news channels. Stay informed, but avoid unverified social media rumors.
4. Avoid Suspicious Digital Links
Do not click on unknown links from emails, social media, or messaging platforms. These could be phishing attempts or tools for digital surveillance.
5. Form a Local Community Safety Group
Organize with neighbors to create a local safety and emergency response plan. Sharing skills, resources, and information ensures no one is left behind.
6. Inspect Emergency Sirens
Ensure your local mosque or community center has functional emergency sirens. Educate everyone on what each alert signal means and what action to take.
7. Keep an Emergency ‘Go-Bag’ Ready
Prepare a grab-and-go emergency bag that includes: - CNIC/Passports - Some cash - Copies of vital documents - Medication - Basic first-aid - (If legally permitted) a licensed self-defense item
8. Seek Shelter Strategically During Shelling
During bombardment or active shelling, move to the innermost room of your home—ideally away from windows and exterior walls.
9. Identify Safe Community Shelters
Work with your local group to pre-designate safe shelter locations—such as basements, secure buildings, or reinforced areas—that everyone can access quickly.
10. Plan for Alternative Transport
If evacuation becomes necessary, avoid using cars, which may draw attention or get stuck in blocked areas. Prefer foot, bicycle, or motorcycle travel if needed.
11. Look After Vulnerable Members of the Community
Elderly, disabled, and chronically ill individuals are often the most at risk. Assign volunteers to check in on them and ensure they receive necessary support.
12. Community Defense (In Extreme Scenarios)
In the rare and extreme case of occupation or direct threat, communities may consider organizing to support official national forces. This should always be coordinated with local authorities, not independently pursued.
May Allah protect our families, communities, and all innocent lives. Ameen.
