The tragic murder of a TikToker girl in Islamabad is not just a horrifying incident—it is a stark reflection of our society’s moral decay. This heart-wrenching event has shaken the conscience of many, but the pressing question remains: When will we wake up? When will we begin to question the so-called “freedoms” under whose guise our daughters are losing not only their honor and character but even their lives?
Regrettably, the slogan “My body, my choice” has paved a bloodstained road—a road that deceptively promises empowerment but leads straight to destruction. Sponsored by Western-backed NGOs, a handful of misguided women have used this slogan to seduce countless girls into a lifestyle that has ultimately placed them on a ticking time bomb. And yet, no one holds them accountable.
In a country established in the name of Islam, the current atmosphere in our educational institutions often puts even Western societies to shame. Mixed-gender interactions, shameless behavior, and a total disregard for ethics in the name of freedom of expression have become disturbingly common. A visit to places like Hostel City—home to students from various Islamabad universities—makes one question whether this is really a part of Pakistan. Students freely mingle, make videos on campus, and stay out late at night under the pretense of harmless fun. What was once frowned upon is now considered “normal.”
But when such “freedom” becomes divorced from parental guidance, Islamic values, and accountability, its end is often tragic—be it death in a hotel room, blackmail leading to suicide, or a family’s honor dragged through the mud.
Universities, which were meant to be beacons of knowledge, have now become hotspots of fashion shows, dating culture, and vlogging trends. Where once there was room for innovation, Hadith, and scientific exploration, there now reigns TikTok and Instagram. Welcome parties, Valentine’s Day events, farewells, concerts—is this what we call education? Is this what we expect from our centers of learning?
This culture is not just eroding morality; it’s becoming fatal. Girls entangled in self-created relationships often find themselves in situations so complex that only a lifeless body returns from them.
Isn’t it time we take a serious look at the dangers of co-education and the unchecked social interactions it fosters? Isn’t it time to rid ourselves of this unbridled freedom that has cost us countless innocent lives and the dignity of many honorable families? Should we not strive for an environment that reflects Islamic values? Do we want to educate our daughters, or lead them into moral ruin?
Remember this well: Freedom without ethics is destruction. In Islam, freedom is never without limits—it comes with boundaries, responsibilities, and dignity.
The murder of the TikToker girl is not just a tragedy for her family; it is the funeral of our collective conscience. As we race down this highway of moral collapse, this incident serves as a speed breaker. One can only hope it slows us down before a bigger, deadlier crash claims more innocent lives.
It is time to critically assess the culture in our universities. We must put restrictions on unregulated mingling and prioritize Islamic upbringing and moral training. Otherwise, every new day may bring another mother’s daughter in a coffin—while we sit idly, watching headlines and reading newspaper columns, doing nothing but mourning the preventable.
