An important update has emerged for individuals planning to move to European countries. According to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, a new asylum and migration pact will begin taking effect across Europe from June 2026, aiming to make the system faster, more organized, and more efficient.
Under the new framework, stricter screening procedures will be mandatory at border entry points. Authorities will also accelerate decisions on asylum applications to enable quicker identification and processing of individuals staying illegally.
According to the Bureau of Emigration and Overseas Employment, a key component of the agreement focuses on increasing the return rate of non-European Union nationals residing illegally in European countries. For this purpose, a new return framework has been introduced, along with an EU-level list of safe countries.

Officials stated that individuals who do not follow legal migration pathways may face immediate return procedures under the updated system. The measures are intended to strengthen migration management and improve enforcement of immigration regulations across European countries.
The new migration and asylum framework is designed to streamline border management, asylum processing, and the handling of irregular migration cases while reducing delays in decision-making and ensuring more effective implementation of immigration laws.
