I am Free

We are taught that freedom is like a gate. If I am free to enter through it, I am also equally free to leave through it .This is not a case where one way is good and it’s opposite is bad. Both directions are equal in value. Freedom is when we have the right of expression, right of selection, right to think, right to preach.

I prefer dangerous freedom which is worthy than If someone is in peaceful slavery. Sometimes people could not realize that they are living a life of slavery because they had become addicted to it. Unless, they shall taste the fruit of freedom. I find this to be so wise and moving that love your land what it has given to you.

According to Harriet Tubman “I freed a thousand slaves. I could have freed a thousand more if only they knew they were slaves”. The two self governing independent Dominions of Pakistan and India legally came into existence in 1947. The partition displaced between 10 and 20 million people along religious lines, creating overwhelming refugee crises in the newly constituted dominions. The summer of August 1947 witnessed Indo-Pak migration called the MASS largest migrations which came about when Pakistan came into being. During partition around 10-15 million people migrated, out of which 5 million migrants were from India and between half a million to 2 million died in the ensuing violence. Those who could afford to, left in planes, ships, or special trains.

However, spaces were scarce. Hence most took regular trains and the poorest of the poor travelled on foot. The journeys of those who migrated were fraught with challenges and difficulty. People often went hungry for days and diseases were rampant. The riots and violence’s that they suffered just made it all the more difficult. Trains would often arrive filled with only dead bodies of the passengers. Their journey would have lasted days, if not weeks, both the people and animals bore the brunt of partition.

Pakistan came into existence as a result of the Pakistan Movement, which aimed for the creation of an independent Muslim state in the north-west regions of British India via partition.

Jinnah in his first broadcast to the nation stated: “August 14 is the birthday of the independent and sovereign state of Pakistan. It marks the fulfillment of the destiny of the Muslims nation which made great sacrifices in the past few years to have its homeland”.

The neighboring country India is called a free and independent state but the situation is opposite to it. Because citizens of India are forced to claim their caste certificate before their identity cards, they still are living a life of slavery. It’s a blessing for us that we are free independent citizens of an Islamic country, where every person is living free and independently without any caste, religion, creed, skin color, disability, and gender disparity.

Many people are paying the price of freedom like in Myanmar on the border of Burma, many Rohingya Muslims being martyred; in Palestine’s. And also people of Kashmir’s are suffering due to their philosophy and right to live their lives liberally.

Pakistan is a blessing of Allah Almighty and I am blessed enough living in a free and independent Islamic state and a citizen of it. Long live Pakistan.
