28 dead, at least 20 injured as Quetta-bound bus falls into ravine in Balochistan’s Washuk

At least 28 people have died at least 20 are injured after a bus fell into a ravine in Washuk, Balochistan on Wednesday, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.

Levies officials at the scene said the accident occurred when a tire burst, which lead to the bus plunging into a ravine.

Women and children are also among the deceased. Some of the injured are in critical condition, with officials fearing it may lead to a rise in the number of deaths.

The bodies and the injured were taken to the Basima Civil Hospital, where 22 more people succumbed to their injuries.

According to Levies officials, the bus was travelling from Turbat to Quetta. Rescue officials reached the incident site as soon as they received news of the accident.

Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed deep regret and sorrow over the loss of human lives. He also expressed his condolences to the families of those who died in the accident.

The CM directed that the best medical facilities be provided to the injured, and prayed for their speedy recovery.
