GAZA CITY: Israeli strikes in the central Gaza Strip killed three people on Sunday, including a child, rescuers said.

An air strike killed two people in the town of Al-Zawayda, including a four-year-old child named Muhammad Abdel Salam Taha, according to the Palestinian civil defence rescue service.

“The two martyrs as well as several wounded were taken to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah”, also in the central Gaza, the civil defence said.

Another Israeli strike killed one person in the Nuseirat refugee camp.

The Israeli military said it had “targeted a terrorist” in one of the strikes, and said it would provide further details later.

An October ceasefire has reduced but not halted violence in Gaza.

Israeli attacks in Gaza have killed 1,286 people since the ceasefire came into effect, according to the Palestinian health ministry.

“There is no ceasefire, there is nothing,” said Abu Ahmed, a displaced Palestinian who was sheltering close to the building, which the Israeli air strike reduced to a pile of mangled steel and concrete.

“We want solutions, we want to live in peace,” he said.

An October 2025 US-backed ceasefire halted major fighting in the shattered territory, but it failed to end strikes by the Israeli military, which it said aimed to thwart attacks by Hamas and other Gaza fighters.

The Israeli military said in a statement on Saturday that it had struck and killed a senior Hamas member, Sharif Al-Hasnat, in the city of Deir Al-Balah. It claimed he was leading efforts to restore Hamas’ “underground infrastructure”.

Hamas says Israel is violating the ceasefire and undermining efforts to implement a broader plan by US President Donald Trump to end the Gaza conflict, which also includes Israeli withdrawals and Hamas disarmament.

In the Israeli-occupied West Bank, an Israeli man was stabbed and wounded by a suspect believed to be a Palestinian man, police and the Israeli military said.

Elsewhere in the West Bank, health officials said Israeli forces had shot and killed a 14-year-old boy, Islam Ajjouri, during a raid into Askar refugee camp near Nablus.

The West Bank, home to three million Palestinians and some 500,000 settlers, has seen a rise in settler violence and seizures of land and resources.

UN bodies and most countries have declared the settlements illegal under international law.

In a statement, the EU High Representative on Israel’s West Bank settlement plan said, “We urge the government of Israel to withdraw the tender, halt its E1 Plans. Israel’s settlements in the West Bank, including in the E1 area, are illegal under international law.”
