Muhsin Hamid
A personal view and gaining from the novel.
The book starts in a monologue and changez is the narrator of the novel.
Hamid shows his implicit jealousy by comparing his underdeveloped homeland with a foreign well-developed country and shows his explicit and obvious love for his own homeland. As he discusses his melancholy and sorrow one notices the saddened feelings of him.
He very emotionally and delicately narrates his love story that how fascinating his beloved was and how did she betrayed him and left him behind. but that is not what attracted me the most. It is his way of narration with thrill and curiosity that will keep you up.
He depicts the attack on the world trade center and after that the behavior of foreign countries towards us.
The most disturbing thing that I found is why is it so difficult to identify oneself by his own religion, country, and culture. Why if someone is following a specific culture and way of life has become a subject of suspicion?
For example
I wonder this thing that why just keeping a beard had become a problem? Why keeping a beard means one is uncivilized or savage? It is very irrational because we could hardly blame one’s beard for any harm.
What I get is that we should understand that violence and terrorism have got nothing to do with Islam. Islam is the religion of peace and it never allows us to do violence or do any harm even to the very least. Better we learn and understand the true meaning of our religion and to show the real picture of it to the world.
Since I am a beginner at literature, there must be weaknesses in making ideas so I request my seniors to correct me if I am wrong.
