We can not build the future of our youth but we can build our youth for the future (Franklin D.Roosevelt)
Youth can play a constructive role in the abolition of poverty and to make the country progressed and prosperous. As per the “New National Human Development Report” by the (UNDP), Pakistan has now the largest percentage of youth in the region. In Pakistan, 64% of the total population is below the age of 30, while 29% of it belongs to the age bracket of 15 to 29 years. Though a huge part of our population is youth still we are underdeveloped.
The first thing which I noticed is that we do expect high salaries but we don’t work hard. I know many of such people who are too lazy to work but they demand the highest pay. I’m in my youth and can validate the other factor, which is that we are aimless. We actually don’t know what we have to do in the future. I remember, once in a class, our teacher asked about our future goals and half of the class was speechless. This is the major thing that leads the youth towards failure in anything in life, hence brings hopelessness and so on.
Don’t you see how much time we waste in useless activities on social sites? We consider scrolling social media websites as the most important part of our daily life. Spending hours on these sites limits productivity in us. We then can’t able to do anything new, creative in our lives and always want to be in our comfort zones, you know what is a comfort zone? Do think of the things stopping you for doing any right thing in life, right? We are able, then why we depend on our families did you ever think of it mates? That’s the other aspect of that hopelessness I talked about.
Oh yes, how can I forget the major role of dating apps in our lives? Who doesn’t know about Tinder and other many dating apps facilitating us in Pakistan? They have become the major source of time passing, releasing our frustrations and so. [pullquote]What a beautiful addition are the WhatsApp groups and VPN which provides us the stuff of our choice, yes the pornographic material which we are addicted to. No, but that all is not helping us anyway.[/pullquote] Did we write a single word on google which helped us grew the right way? I believe many of us do and most of us have to. That is the right way of life mates. For me, google is my best friend, provides me with every best thing I demand.
I acknowledge that the age span between 17 to 25 is the most difficult part of a person’ life. Teens show rebellious attitude, I did also had once, or maybe I’m still going through that time. We get greatly affected by the peer and social pressures on us. But we have to phase and settle with all the destruction done, the way is understanding, more understanding. Quit is the no option.
Yet an important but unanswered question is, understanding of what? To know yourself, and of course your surrounding. Our education system is also responsible for the present situation of youth. It has failed to provide skills and critical thinking to our youth. Knowing that is the example of understanding we the youth must have with. You will agree that people of my country do have degrees, but they lack creativity, and the basic skills industry wants from them. And when they don’t find good jobs, they attempt suicide. The highly increasing suicidal rate in our youth is the major evidence of this fact. I feel very sorry when I come to listen to such incidents around.
I believe that youth is the most precious asset of our country. They can lead our country towards profitability, prosperity and opulence. They definitely have both physical and mental abilities. But.
But, first of all, we have to reset our goals. There is a way to get to the very difficult goals and that is to make little targets in life so that you can’t offend of the continuous and hard times of hard work. There is no short cut in life, write it down anywhere and don’t forget this lesson, there is no shortcut in life. You have to elevate yourself to the heights by your hardwork, there is no other way.
If you are facing trouble in achieving the goals you have set, you should not lose hope or stop working rather come back and face the challenges with a new spirit. Teachers should guide all the students according to their area of interest. Educational institutes should also focus on the creative skills of the students because well skilled and informed youth can solve the problems of any country successfully.
There will be a time when we’ll be the fastest growing nation in the world. Hopes are high
