LONDON: Maryam Nawaz, the daughter of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, said on Sunday that she along with her husband was returning home to test the judicial system by appearing before a NAB court.
Speaking to media before leaving for airport here, Maryam said:“ We are returning home as a mark of respect for the Constitution and law. We will appear before accountability court and try the judicial system.”
To a question about Hasan and Hussain, she said that they would appear before the court, however, they themselves would decide about their return to Pakistan.
Election of Nawaz Sharif as PML-N head is a party’s internal matter. I am surprised that the people who had nothing to do with the PML-N are raising objections over the ex-PM’s election as party chief, Maryam said.
It is PML-N’s democratic right to elect its head and no one should have any objection over it.
Earlier this month, an accountability court in Islamabad had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Sharif’s children Hasan, Hussain, and Maryam, and for son-in-law Captain Safdar after they failed to appear before it despite repeated summons.
The court ordered police to arrest all the accused and produce them before it in the next hearing.
