Sounds of Kolachi (SOK) released their debut album Elhaam at the press conference in Karachi.
‘Sounds of Kolachi’ is a musical ensemble formed in 2014 by Ahsan Bari Music. The band is an amalgamation of sufi and rock genres.
“Elhaam is the initiation of a new musical movement in Pakistan. It’s a step forward for musicians and artists who’ve always wanted to do what they love because we did only what we love while making the songs regardless of whether or not they’d be a hit or fit the requirements of the commercial market.” Ahsan Bari told the media.
The other members Waqas Hussain (Sitar player), Gul Muhammad (Sarangi Player), and Nimra Rafiq (vocalist) also spoke to the press about the different genres they’ve explored apart from classical tunes along the course of their music making process.
Elhaam means ‘Inspiration’ is consisted of eight songs; all penned down by Bari including a kalaam by Hazrat Amir Khusro titled ‘Aeri Sakhi Ri’. The album, produced at Digital Fidelity Studios by Mekaal Hassan, and Prodigy Arts Studio is available for public listening on popular South Asian music streaming spaces; Patari and Saavn.
The event came to an end with an ecstatic by unplugged performance by the band.
