A press conference in Karachi was held to announce the dates for the 47thNigar Awards, which have been scheduled to take place in Karachi on March 16, 2017.
The date was announced through a showreel, which traced the journey of Nigar Awards through these seven decades.
The awards, which had been the sole representative of the country’s film awards for nearly seven decades was initiated by Ilyas Rashidi, the founder of Nigar Weekly, in 1957, have now been revived by his son,
Aslam Ilyas Rashidi after the delay of 15 years.
The show was hosted by senior journalist, Shanaz Ramzi, who is also a committee member of the Nigar Awards.
MD Nigar Awards, Kashif Warsi, and show director, Fahad Sherwani, threw light on the preparations that have gone behind the 47th Awards.
Celebrities from the world of showbiz who were present at the occasion were then requested to come to the stage and air their views. They all laud the efforts of Rashidi and offered him their full support.
The final speaker of the evening was Aslam Ilyas Rashidi, the flag-bearer and custodian of Nigar Awards who spoke about his father and his personal commitment to this project.
It may be noted that for the first time in Pakistan partner satellite channel, terrestrial channel, FM radio and music channels will telecast the awards simultaneously.
The names of the partners of Nigar Awards will be announced soon.
