ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman, Imran Khan Saturday condemned what he called blatant threats from the government to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and warned of stiff opposition in case the powers of NAB were clipped.
Addressing a press conference here, Imran Khan said PTI wants to establish an independent body for accountability, adding no hurdles will be allowed in the formation of an independent Accountability Cell in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He said in order to ensure this a prior permission was solicited from Accountability Commissioner and DG NAB.
Imran Khan said in case any reforms posed a hurdle in the formation of the independent Accountability Cell impediment it will be done away with. In this regard, he said a committee headed by him is being formed.
He said the DG NAB, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, General Hamid has not mentioned any complaint anywhere in his resignation.
The PTI Chairman claimed that the government is presently resorting to attack on the NAB.
