PESHAWAR: The Tourism Corporation Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (TCKP) and the Culture Department on Thursday jointly initiated a unique project to colour and paint the walls in Peshawar to give an eye-catching look to the dwellers and the visitors of the city.
The project titled “Rang De Peshawar” was formally inaugurated wherein officials of (TCKP) and Culture Department including Additional Secretary Tariq Khan, Managing Director Mushtaq Ahmed Khan, Deputy Secretary Adil Safi and Director Culture Abdul Basit and others were present, said an official comminuque.
Under the “Rang De Peshawar” project, the walls from Phase-III, Hayatabad to Town Chowk will be painted and coloured with various designs and arts. The famous artists, graphic designers, painters and civil society members, students, teachers of the province will take part in the event.
“Rang De Peshawar” would continue for a week during which various designs to be painted on the walls in Peshawar. The designs and arts prepared by the students of fine arts and experts of other departments have already been approved by a selection committee.
The committee included famous artists, designers, architects and professionals from the province who had selected the designs through a consensus.During the first phase of the “Rang De Peshawar”, 10 walls would be painted while in the second phase most of the walls in the city would be covered.
The project would be extended to the rest of the province in the third phase.Speaking on the occasion, Managing Director TCKP Mushtaq Ahmed Khan said that the objective of the project was part of the beautification of the city. He said students have been involved in the project to encourage them and polish their talent.He said that walls in the area from Phase-III Chowk near Hayatabad to University Town would be painted within a week.
